I love to party and so when a friend of mine said that she was going to Koh Phangan for a holiday and asked if I wanted to join her, I jumped at the chance. Koh Phangan is home to Thailand’s best and biggest party – The Full Moon Party. It is also home to the less famous Half Moon Party and Black Moon Culture Party. I wanted to go to them all, but sadly our travel itinerary only allowed for us to check out the FMP. Such is life.
We arrived on Koh Phangan 3 days before the Full Moon Party. We hadn’t booked anything as both of us distrust the reviews you read on the internet. It is a system that is obviously too open to abuse: owners write flattering reviews for themselves and competitors write scathing reviews about their rivals.
Anyway when we got to Haad Rin we regretted our decision as most places were full already. We met a nice motorbike taxi guy who squeezed both of us girls on his bike and he drove us around all the resorts to look for a room. Eventually we got a double at Sea Breeze Resort located on a hill between the Sunrise and the Sunset beaches. It was about $100 a night – not cheap but the room had beautiful decor and lots of space, and the resort had a pool and restaurant with a great sea view.
Haad Rin is a surprisingly small place. You soon get a feel for the place. It is great because there are so many fun bars and restaurants to check out.
